The British International School Bratislava

The British International School Bratislava is a friendly, welcoming school that aims for high educational achievement in a supportive learning environment. The school offers a special educational experience where children learn beyond the classroom.

BISB seeks to prepare its students for their role in a challenging and rapidly changing world. We provide an environment that is nurturing, academically stimulating and internationally aware. Our students develop as confident, open-minded, respectful young people.

Our commitment is to create and maintain a safe, happy and child-centred environment in which children are inspired to become purposeful life long learners. We provide an education based upon the English National Curriculum in an international context for pupils with a range of abilities.

Curriculum

The curriculum is adapted to make sure it's suitable for our diverse group of students. As they go through the school, we keep a careful eye on how they're doing with progressive and continuous assessment and review.

The National Curriculum of England and Wales seeks to:

  • set out the most important knowledge and skills that every child has a right to learn
  • be a flexible framework enabling children to be taught in a way that is balanced and manageable but stretching enough to challenge them and meet their diverse needs
  • give standards that measure how well children are doing to support teachers in further raising student achievement

We strive to equip students with the knowledge, skills and understanding to take responsibility for themselves, show respect for others and develop self-awareness and confidence.

Why BISB is Different

Our students are supported in reaching their highest level of personal achievement through good learning habits, self-discipline and a strong sense of responsibility. Staff in the school place a strong emphasis upon the importance of kindness, courtesy, and consideration for others. We also give recognition to hard work and commitment in all areas of school life and encourage students to develop their individual strengths and interests.
